Inspired by the tropical beaches of the Caribbean, the brief was to capture their essence while intertwining it with the ecological character of the rolling Andalusian hills.
Coopers Hill was appointed to masterplan the site, developing a strategic design and sustainability narrative for the valley adjacent to an established members’ golf club. The first phase of the project included extending existing sports facilities by adding a Multi-Sports Games Area, five new paddle tennis courts with a viewing stand, and an improved direct access route to the clubhouse through an area of restored native planting.
The centrepiece of this multi-phase project is a 3,000m² beach pool with a sand-entry feature and an adjoining children’s pool. The main south-facing beach serves as the setting for a contemporary beach club, gently sloping into the water from a striking architectural feature. The Beach Club is designed as a vibrant hub for both day and night-time activities, featuring an open bar and restaurant. Poolside entertainment includes fire-side seating, a DJ booth, and a night-time cinema screen oriented towards the beach.
On the opposite side, the Beach Club terraces open towards a 1.7-hectare sports lagoon nestled within the valley, offering a tranquil backdrop to the buzzing oasis. A 25m infinity lap pool and surrounding terraces complete the design. Once completed, the existing stream along the valley will be re-routed, allowing visitors to wander through a beautifully restored native landscape. The hillside and lagoon edge will provide perfect spots for secluded sunbathing, peaceful contemplation, or picnics on the island, accessible via narrow bridges.
Future phases over the coming years are set to include an expansion of the pool decks, a dedicated kids’ club, a purpose-built resort entry with parking facilities, a destination spa, an organic farm, and a 6-hole golf course.
