Mandarin Oriental Costa Navarino, Greece
Landscape Architecture / Resort / Beach/Waterside / Mountain/Hillside
The Mandarin Oriental Costa Navarino is the brand’s first property in Greece, located on the historic Bay of Navarino, adjacent to the stunning village of Pylos. The bay is renowned for its spectacular views and award-winning golf course, The Bay Course. Most notably, it offers Europe’s first truly earth-sheltered guest experience.
Coopers Hill were involved in the project from the earliest stages of master planning, setting out the suites across the rolling natural landscape to ensure uninterrupted seas views whilst allowing each to sit comfortably within the earth-shaped hillside sections. This unique earth-sheltered architectural design is aligned with owner’s longstanding vision and the Costa Navarino brand’s sustainability principles, featuring planted roofs blending into the natural landscape and the use of local materials throughout.
Seamless indoor and outdoor transitions, combined with eye-catching décor and traditional materials, allow eco-conscious guests to connect with the surrounding nature and enjoy the many benefits of green living. The resort is completed by the 1,800m² Beach Club pool on the shores of the pristine bay, complemented with restaurant, bar and club facilities.
