Hyatt Hyderabad Gachibowli, India
Landscape Architecture / Hotel / Desert/Arid / Urban
Located on a hilltop that was once a stone quarry, Hyatt Hyderabad Gachibowli is a modern 164-room business hotel. The rugged 16-acre site, characterised by granite boulders and native vegetation, contrasts sharply with the clean lines of the hotel’s contemporary architecture and landscape design. Retention of the existing on-site boulder outcrops, which geologists have dated to be close to 2,500 million years old, was achieved through careful design coordination and, where required, on-site adjustments during construction.
Native planting and contemporary hardscape details are complemented by a series of water features, reflective pools, and water walls, which provide an ‘oasis-like’ feel during Hyderabad’s dry summer months. The natural elements blend with the landscape, while boulders contrast with water features, adding flow and movement. The muted tones of these natural elements harmonise with the cool hues of the poolside and daybeds, creating a serene and polished ambience.
