Raffles Grand Hotel D’Angkor, Siem Reap, Cambodia
Landscape Architecture / Hotel / Cultural / Heritage
Set on nearly eight acres, the Grand Hotel D’Angkor is positioned along the central axis with the ancient Angkor Wat temple in northwest Cambodia. During the hotel’s renovation, the Raffles signature landscape design—featuring travellers’ palms and frangipani trees—was complemented by the addition of mature sugar palms, native to the region. An expansive swimming pool, inspired by the ancient bathing pools of the Khmer kings, was installed on the grounds. To enhance the Cambodian essence of the gardens, local craftsmen were employed, using only indigenous construction materials. What truly distinguishes this restored hotel is its 15-acre public gardens, which create a striking frontage. Divided into four sections, each area has been meticulously restored.
