Landscape Architecture / Urban Design / Commercial/Mixed-use / Hotel / Urban
Landscape plays an important role in this mixed-use project, comprising hotel, office and retail components. There is a dynamic relationship between landscape and architecture, with the extensive introduction of green roof treatments, vertical greening, sky terraces and façade planters. People are encouraged to walk through and interact with a wide range of green spaces that have been created at different levels and at differing scales. The concept of greening the urban environment is not only functional and aesthetically focused. Ecological and sustainability considerations were also important factors in the landscape design. The planting palette placed great emphasis on ease of maintenance and ecological diversity, with a large selection of native species being specified, as well as drought tolerant plants. The presence of hardy plant species served to optimise and ensure continuity of landscape lushness year round. The presence of ample feature seats and shade trees provide a range of opportunities for social interaction at this urban hub – along the entrance plaza and open-to-sky courtyards at the retail mall, at the chill-out spaces by the Hotel pool and on office towers green roof.
