Ahn Lan Xinchang, China

Opened in 2021, on the banks of HanFei River, Ahn Lan Xinchang is situated on 4 separate riverside land parcels and 1 hilltop parcel. Coopers Hill’s landscape concept for this 92 villa boutique resort is environmentally focused and a celebration of nature. Using local materials and construction techniques, together with indigenous plant species, the protection, preservation and restoration of this areas unique sense of place guided the landscape design process.
The central guest facilities, riverside villas and spa/pool area have spectacular valley views, surrounded on all sides by towering cocky cliffs and mountain forests. Working with, rather than against nature, it was important to ensure that nothing in the landscape felt out of place. The sunset sky lounge bar and associated guest facilities are located on a dramatic hill top location, with panoramic views of the surrounding forested mountains, tea plantation terraces and famous “19 peaks of Xinchang”.
