Huafa Green Ocean, Zhuhai, China
Landscape Architecture / Residential / Urban
Utilizing the site’s existing topography, a series of cascading landscape terraces and platforms have been created. Organic and curvilinear in form, each landscape level opens up a different ocean view and helps to create drama, privacy and separation of spatial function and activity. The central sail pavilion draws inspiration from the classic Chinese sailing junks that would have once been a common sight out in the bay. The structure and form of a junk, with fully battened sails, has been stylized and extracted to form a contemporary and iconic trellis feature, which has become the signature image for this development.
